These socket weld fittings are now available in both <strong>ASTM A105<\/strong> and the <strong>alloyed grade A350<\/strong>. This move responds to the growing demand for high-quality fittings for applications where material performance and reliability are essential.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to A105, GNS now also supplies fittings in the<strong> A350 LF2 and LF3<\/strong> grades. Both versions are suitable for low-temperature applications.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>LF2<\/strong> is a <strong>low-temperature carbon steel<\/strong> suitable for temperatures down to approximately <strong>\u201346 \u00b0C<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>LF3<\/strong> contains <strong>3.5% nickel<\/strong>, which makes it much tougher at <strong>extremely low temperatures down to \u2013101 \u00b0C<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #de5300;\">The main differences:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>1. Chemical composition<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>LF2<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Carbon \u2264 0.30%<\/li>\n<li>Manganese 0.60\u20131.35%<\/li>\n<li><strong>Low nickel content<\/strong> (max 0.4%)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>LF3<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Carbon \u2264 0.20% (lower than in LF2 \u2192 better weldability)<\/li>\n<li>Manganese 0.90\u20131.35%<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nickel 3.3\u20133.7%<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The nickel content makes the difference here: nickel increases toughness at very low temperatures.<\/p>\n<h4>2. Mechanical properties<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tensile strength and yield strength<\/strong> are comparable.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Impact toughness values (Charpy V-notch):<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>LF2:<\/strong> tested at <strong>\u201346 \u00b0C<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>LF3:<\/strong> tested at <strong>\u2013101 \u00b0C<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Due to its higher nickel content, LF3 remains tough at much lower temperatures.<\/p>\n<p>Available in <strong>elbows, tees, (half) couplings, unions, reducing couplings, welding bosses and reducing inserts.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All products are sourced from reputable <strong>Western European manufacturers,<\/strong> ensuring consistent quality, dimensional accuracy, high-quality finish and full traceability.<\/p>\n<p>Interested in the possibilities? Stronger and more reliable connection<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Socket-weld fittings are welded and therefore provide a much stronger, vibration-resistant connection than threaded fittings. Ideal for high-pressure and dynamic systems.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Lower risk of leakage<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Threaded fittings always have a potential leak path along the thread. Socket-weld connections are fully welded shut and are therefore better suited to critical process environments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Better resistance to high temperatures<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Threads can deform with temperature fluctuations. Welded socket-weld connections retain their integrity at higher temperatures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Smoother internal flow<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Thread grooves cause turbulence and debris accumulation. Socket-weld fittings have a smooth bore, ideal for steam, condensate, instrumentation lines and clean media.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Better alignment and installation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The socket acts as a guide, ensuring the pipe is automatically positioned correctly. Less dependent on craftsmanship than threaded connections.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. Suitable for corrosive or critical media<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>No threads means no crevice corrosion.
