Hexagon Bolts with Partial Thread in Alloy 926 – Can You Supply Them?

Sometimes, the challenge isn’t the material. It’s the combination of material, dimensions and specifications. Recently, GNS Nederland helped a major technical service provider source M20x75 hexagon bolts in Alloy 926 (1.4529). Alloy 926 is certainly not a standard material that you can find everywhere. But that wasn’t the biggest challenge. The bolts also had to feature a partial thread in accordance with DIN 931. And that turned out to be the real problem…

Suppliers who could provide the material could only offer fully threaded bolts according to DIN 933. Partial-thread versions were simply not available. “You’re not going to find those…” was the answer our customer heard time and time again. Until the search reached Eindhoven.

GNS Nederland was able to meet all the requirements.

Alloy 926

Alloy 926 (1.4529) is a super-austenitic stainless steel, comparable to AISI 904L (1.4539), but with higher molybdenum and nitrogen contents. Its high alloy content provides excellent resistance to a wide range of organic and inorganic acids, including sulphuric and hydrochloric acid. Alloy 926 is also resistant to intergranular corrosion, even after welding. The material is suitable for chloride-containing environments, halogen-contaminated media and seawater. Thanks to its high molybdenum content, Alloy 926 offers exceptionally high resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion — even higher than AISI 904L.
