Threaded nipples with partly BSP and NPT thread

04 November 2013

Recently, a Dutch company had the following issue.

To create a new fire fighting system for the Erasmus Medical Centre in Rotterdam they had to make a connection with AISI 316 stainless steel threaded nipples.  However, there were two “problems”. The linking components had different internal threads and had to be screwed together seamlessly. This kind of threaded nipples are not standard items. For most of our colleagues reason to pass …..

We solved the problem by making nipples with on one side NPT and on the other end BSP thread (see illustration).  With these nipples both parts could be easily connected to each other.

GNS: “In move where others have to pass”.
